Arthrosis(osteoarthritis) is a dystrophic disease of the joints associated with slow degeneration and destruction of intra-articular cartilage. Over time, there is a restructuring of the ends of the articular bone, inflammation and degeneration of the periarticular tissue. The concept of "arthrosis" (osteoarthritis deformity) encompasses a group of joint diseases of a degenerative-inflammatory nature, which have different origins and similar mechanisms.
Cause
Primary arthrosis against a background of age -related and / or biomechanical changes. Secondary, occurring after injury, with a background of diabetes mellitus or thyroid disease, caused by vascular disorders, etc. Contributes to damage to the foot joints and the development of flat foot arthrosis, which violates the shock -absorbing function of the foot. The use of timely selected orthopedic soles allows you to correct foot deformities and reduce stress on the joints.
Arthrosis is the most common joint disease, and its frequency increases with age. But the disease occurs not only in the elderly, which determines its social importance.
Symptoms:
- pain during exercise, subsides at rest;
- limitation of movement and spasm in the joints;
- muscle tension in the joint area;
- the possibility of the appearance of periodic swelling, gradual deformation of the joints.
Primary arthrosis - 40-50% of cases of arthrosis. The disease develops in previously healthy joints, and the cause is not damage to the joints, but, for example, hard physical work.
Secondary arthrosis - 50-60% of cases. Joints, prone to arthrosis, deformed before the disease - for example, as a result of trauma.
What joints are affected by arthrosis?
Often arthrosis develops in the joints of the lower body (hip, knee, first metatarsophalangeal). In the hands, the phalanges joints of the fingers are most often affected by arthrosis. Osteoarthritis usually occurs first in one joint, and then in the second - symmetrically to the first.
Coxarthrosis
Coxarthrosis(arthrosis of the hip joint) is characterized by a progressive course and disturbances of statodynamic function of the musculoskeletal system. It occupies one of the first places among degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The process of dystrophy begins with the articular cartilage - thinning, separation, rupture occurs, and its protective properties are lost. As a compensatory reaction to the articular surface of the hip joint, marginal bone growth is formed. In the future, sclerosis develops and cysts form in the articulatory parts of the femoral head and acetabulum.
Gonarthrosis
Gonarthrosisarthrosis of the knee joint) occupies a leading place in the group of arthritic lesions on the foot joint. Patients with gonarthrosis often occur among patients attending polyclinics, but, unfortunately, they are few among those treated in our hospital. Inpatient treatment can have a much greater impact than outpatient therapy in the workplace. Known by doctors for over 100 years, this disease in everyday life is called "salt deposition".
